Your opinions of Sadhguru's vs Jordan Peterson's view of life? - Today's video

In the video today, Sadhguru talks about the fundamental existence of life, and while watching it I realized that Jordan Peterson expressed a view that was in complete contrast to Sadhguru's.

(Paraphrasing)>

Jordan Peterson - The first thing that you must realize is that life is fundamentally suffering. Once you realize that, you realize that your purpose is to relieve any unnecessary suffering in the world, as best as you can.

Sadhguru - Life is not suffering. Life is neither suffering nor joy. Life is simply there. You can ride the wave of life and experience joy, or you can be crushed by the wave of life and experience suffering.

In my opinion, Jordan Peterson's outlook and advice seems much more pragmatic and realistic than Sadhguru's outlook. Sadhguru seemed to be looking at life through the perspective that our primary goal is to experience joy and "blissfulness".

To me, Peterson's advice and outlook makes more sense in regards to sustainability as well as altruism.

Eager to know your thoughts.

Jordan comes from a clinical psychology back ground, and hears the worst things that are happening in people’s lives. When I listen to Jordan I hear a very cynical outlook.

But with that said Buddha says the same thing as Jordan.

IMO Life can be suffering but it doesn’t have to be, we can choose to look at things a certain way and grow to become resilient enough to not be affected by life’s challenges.

“We suffer more in imagination than in reality” - Seneca

So I think Sadhguru is all about taking control over one’s mind. You can see the difference in who has more control over their minds when you see Jordan’s interviews Vs Sadguru’s interviews. Jordan tends to get quite angry sometimes and struggles with addictions. life is definitely more suffering when you let the world influence your mental states.

The ups and downs of life make each other, we cannot feel true rewards without hard work. Suffering largely comes from worrying about what you can't control and failing to plan for adequately handling what you can. Luck is a preparedness meeting opportunity. And in preparation, you create opportunities. Through Taoism, we know how we feel is a choice, good and bad are 2 sides of the same course. You get out of life what you put in and I've found it far more comfortable and peaceful to chose to look for the silver lining in all things. I don't think all things happen for a reason per some divine plan, but I do believe in asking the universe for what we want and making decisions that will make tomorrow better. The highest levels of happiness are experienced in service to others and in building yourself you can be of the best service to others. Look for chances to be the change you want to in this world and you will see the world and life for the awing beauty they are.

I am not a big Fan of both of them. I am listening alot to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Thich Nhat Hanh lately. Maharishi said: It is not mans nature to suffer. He said when you transcending with Transcendental Meditation you are feeling more Joy and Happiness and
all Friendships and Relationships are automatically and naturally getting better because we can release alot of stresses with TM. I have experienced with TM alot of good stuff. We don't need much to talk about suffering we have to do meditation 2 times a day for our own Quality life. We always suffer when we don't meditate thats a fact. I can highly recommand TM for doing it 2times a 1 hour everyday.

as Gautama buddha said, life is full of suffering, and the goal of life is to achieve nirvana meaning escaping the cycle of birth and death.

Life has pain there is no denying that but pain can become suffering only when you let it be. But Peterson is right too in a way because we as normal people do suffer and it gets worse when the suffering is bought upon by a fellow man. (Peterson talks a lot about man-made evil in his book 12 rules). What Sadhguru tells is good to listen to and yeah if you can attain that stage it is extremely great but what I feel is to get to that stage Peterson's way is more practical.
