Don't reminice about the past and instead focus on the present. That's all it really takes to succeed - properly act in the now 😌
Here are two different links to someone reading the book, adapted to pmo, in case you or someone you know prefers this way. I never finished reading the book, but listened and found it really helpful. It’s been quite a while though.
Thanks @Spartacus
Used to listen to it in the audio format as well but from a different narrator. Will listen again with pleasure
I've read the book many times. So I know the language. Look, you took a ride on the dopamine slide. This probably grew to a problem due to other things. Social Media. Gaming. Think what takes your attention.
This is where we don't even realise our hardwiring.
You notice how people might look at your phone when you get a notification. It's an immediate reaction to a stimulus. The reward centre is craving dopamine and they will look at your phone even if it isn't their phone. Funny how we are wired. DOPAMOBILE.
So you are gonna wanna try and work towards a serotonin increase. When you get depressed and want to go to dopamine. Try this trick. Behave depressed. More depressed. ( I assume that is the bad feeling ) So you are not holding back your depression. This plays on your serotonin. And the natural response to Serotonin is to feel happy. But it works on the Polar end. When you body feels depressed you will start generating Serotonin.
The other natural response is wanting to flood your brain with dopamine. Because that suppresses your Serotonin. But it doesn't leave you feeling happy. You still feel depressed. And that is the cycle.
It's no longer a problem of knowledge. It's just slight changes in your brain chemistry. So Try to allow those serotonin stores to increase by not flooding your brain with dopamine in all the different ways. Embrace your depression and bad feelings. You can vent in your head or out loud.
The beautiful thing about being in this Serotonin state is that no matter where you are as long as your are not flooding your brain with dopamine. You are in a much better state for social situations including maintaining relationships and starting romance.
Embracing depression tip: Watch Charlie Brown/Snoopy cartoons and feel his/their pain. Part of all of this is emotional control. And that program identifies with the creators inner anxieties and depression.
