Practice Inward Focus?

https://mezakmgb.medium.com/desexualizing-your-brain-a-path-to-focus-discipline-and-success-589a7d326cc7

Hi guys, I grew up in the 90s, and the idea of inward focus didn't really exist. Everything was coming at you through TV, media, the rise of the internet, and generally we were taught to go after this external achievement, this sight, pleasure, or other external stimuli, and it just got worse in the 90s. Sports, movies, music, etc. None of these are bad in of themselves, but what happens when you are alone, by yourself? What happens when you are bored? What do you do to ease that boredom?

How many of you have a dedicated practice to inward focus? I would be curious to learn how to develop it because I really have a hard time being a lone with myself, and crave validation from external stimuli. Or rather, I rely on external stimuli more than internal. And I believe my life has suffered as a result. Getting hooked on porn was one of those ways I allowed external stimuli to get the better of me. I really like this idea.
……

["The pervasive nature of pornography and the normalization of instant pleasure-seeking behaviors have deeply rooted impacts on our brains. It's not merely about the act of consuming sexual content; it's about the neurological effects that follow. Research has shown that prolonged exposure to pornography can lead to changes in brain structure, particularly affecting areas responsible for impulse control, willpower, and emotional regulation. This rewiring of the brain can manifest in decreased focus, increased anxiety and depression, and even difficulties in forming and maintaining healthy relationships."

"5. Practice Inward Focus: Train yourself to find fulfillment internally rather than seeking constant external stimuli. Embrace periods of stillness and engage in activities that nourish your mind and spirit."]

Well this requires a detailed post, but here's a short response for now.
I've always been least focused about the external world, from when I was a young boy. I'd do things by myself, and not look for a friend or any companion to do it with.
Also, because I read a lot of books when I was young - and that was a one-person activity.
.
.
Nowadays if you want to inculcate it - first stop comparing yourself with others. It's the root of all problems. Stop worrying about others' opinions / their feelings towards you.
I'm not saying you should be apathetic. Instead, understand that you're just a nobody in everyone else's lives (except your parents/loved ones of course).
.
.
And once in a while, try to have a weird hairstyle - see how the world reacts. For a day or two- people would be shocked, but after that, everyone would move on.
.
.
And once you understand that you're nothing to the world, however rich or poor you may be, you'll learn to seek internal fulfillment instead of external validation.
.
.
.
A good start would be is to just stop using social media. All social media. No need to delete your profiles or hide your posts. No need to make a farewell post. Just suddenly stop using it. Just log out of all social media, and stop looking at the messages on there.
.
People will ping you on your phone. For those people, just tell them "I'm OK. Just been busy".
Try it, and you'll lose the hold on external validation.
.
Some people also call it "monk mode", but don't be intimidated by the fancy term. Just understand that social media is useless. You learn nothing, and you gain nothing.
