My friend was a drug junkie for years. He grew up in a single mother home in the 80s, became addicted to hardcore drugs (heroine, marijuana, others) and sex in high school. He was always a devout church-goer however, it's just what he knew to do because his mother always forced him to go. His mother decided to move very far away when he was 18 and he crashed his car and flew right through the wind shield.
He relocated to California and got into more drugs and his life went downhill. His lowest point was when he was driving on heroine and crashed his car, he ended up killing somebody. It actually ended up being a coworker (or someone related I believe) to his mom. Still this whole time he went to church every weekend, because his mom wanted him to.
I believe God intervened, he only get house arrest plus a few thousand hours of community service. He should've gotten years or even life in prison.
Somehow he ended up where he is now, met his now-wife who was a smoker but nothing crazy, but got her on heroine and other things. He started taking her to church too with his mom every weekend. Go to church on Sunday morning, shoot up h Sunday evening.
The pastor pulled them aside, "I know something isn't right with you two." Despite their drug use they were relatively successful, but they both desperately wanted to be clean. The pastor worked with them and got them into therapy to get them clean, and, although it took years, they finally got clean around 2015~ish. His wife stayed clean, but my friend had a fall.
While she was away on a biz trip, he got back into h, and overdosed and fell outside. Something happened and he chopped his finger off (he still only has 4 fingers). God intervened, and sent some random person in his neighborhood just to randomly check on him. They called the ambulance not a minute too late, he would've died otherwise. The same pastor visited him in the hospital, "looks like you need to be in church every single day". That was 2017. My same friend still, daily, goes to church every single day at 4 AM and prays for 2 hours.
He has been clean since and is now completely turned around. He and his wife have an amazing child now, are restored, homeowners, and he is the reason I decided to get clean of all of my problems. I met him at a Celebrate Recovery (like Narcotics Anonymous but very Christian) because I had problems with LSD-induced trauma and wanted to quit porn too.
I write this story to inspire you guys. If He can do it for my friend, He can do it for you too. Go all in for God, give Him everything you got. Every atom in your body. You won't be disappointed.
