No PMO War XXXIX

Won the war but lost the battle

I felt great winning the last war but failed just a couple of days after. I think not having the commitment of the war each day was a factor but I also allowed myself to buy a bottle of whiskey which shut down my defences very quickly. Most of the last week has been spent in a low depressive mood and so I appreciate having this new opportunity to fight once again. I will consider my previous mistakes as lessons learned and bring awareness to these potential issues this time around.

How is everyone feeling going into this war? Is there anything in particular you want to work on or resolve?

Good luck to everyone!

Sorry to hear this! Congrats though on winning the war! I really desire to get out of my burnout faster and start a career in screenwriting and filmmaking (ambitious, I know). I'm super tired all the time and have trouble sleeping. This has been going on for quite a while now. I founded a startup that enjoyed some succes for a brief amount of time, but it went bankrupt two years ago.

@HitmanX hey bro, don’t feel bad. I’m in exactly the same boat. I was really hoping to go from the last war and continue through this one without relapsing, but unfortunately, I failed again. And for the same reason as you. Without the focus of the war, it’s easy to somehow slip back into old habits. Let’s get back on track and see if we can keep going after this war is over onto the next one!
By the way, it’s unfortunate that you are not in the same barracks as me this time around. But ultimately, we are on the same “team“ of freedom fighters 💪

@Danvirtual thanks man! That’s crazy, you sound exactly the same as me. I’ve been crashing hard in the afternoons recently and my sleep is a complete lottery at the moment. I’m constantly feeling tired and unmotivated. I’m going to start meditation again, I think anything that will help to de-clutter and relax my mind right now will be a good thing. Maybe my sleep can start to improve as a result.

I don’t think your goals sound ambitious, I think you’re on exactly the right path! One of our main issues in life is that we spend all of our time running away from things (PMO) and not enough time running towards things (big goals). The more time you’re chasing your goals the less time you will have to worry about negative habits. So keep dreaming big man! 💪

@thor it’s crazy how that works right? I heard something a while ago about humans and their connection with open/closed loops. If the loop is open then we have a better ability to chase and stick with a goal but as soon as we achieve the goal and the loop gets closed, then we are much more likely to quit the behaviour/habit. It’s like when tv shows always have a cliffhanger at the end, they keep the loop open and so we continue onto the next episode to get a resolution (close the loop). If there was no cliffhanger and the loop got closed then we probably wouldn’t move onto the next episode as we would have found our resolution already.

I think this logic applies to the war. The loop gets closed after 50 days and so something is being triggered in the brain that says ‘I have completed my goal and so now I don’t have to continue further’. So in my opinion we need to find a way to keep that loop open because, as both you and I know from experience, our lives don’t get resolved after 50 days and so we need to have a constant goal to keep moving towards.

Yes shame we are not in same barracks this time but I’m still supporting you exactly the same brother and hoping you reach the end! I think I’ll start paying the monthly fee from the next war so I’ll be able to choose my barracks next time.
