Shot down

This is just me complaining about life not a necessary read for anyone, I'm just venting to make myself feel better.

I've just been shot down by my crush, which I did sort of expect as there is an age difference of 10 years.
I asked because I kept wondering "what if she said yes" so I figure if I didn't ask I wouldn't know.

I thought I might get tempted into addiction again. But this streak has been 10 months long now so while I do feel down I feel like I'm in a position were I'd feel worse to ruin something this good.

Anyway I hoped typing this would make me feel better and it did just not as much as I was hoping.

Cheers if you read this,

Have a merry Christmas

Thanks for sharing. Was she 10 years younger than you?

Yeah, way too young for me but family and friends that had seen us talking kept saying "you never know unless you ask".
I should have just trusted my gut really, but my mother and father have the same age difference.
It's good to be rejected I can stop wondering "what if" and move on so I don't regret it, and after I posted it I went outside and did some jobs so I didn't give in which is also good.

Smart man. I had a similar situation with a girl in college. I had my gut instincts that she wasn't into me but I needed to know. I reached out well after we had both graduated. She said she was actually briefly into me when we first met but I ended up dating someone else and she prayed on it and felt we were better as friends even after that relationship ended. It stung a little but she was very nice about it and it was freeing to have the full context, putting a lot of past behavior into clarity. Good on you for finding out and staying strong.

I don’t think a 10-year age difference is necessarily too much. That said, if you feel it is, she’ll probably sense it as well. I do think there’s a common perception that a 10-year gap is excessive, and part of that may come from social dynamics and insecurity rather than an absolute rule. For example, when people see men their age dating significantly younger women, it can feel threatening. At the end of the day, biology plays a role too: men often respond to cues associated with youth and fertility, while women tend to value stability and security, which can more often be associated with an older partner.
