Invitation: Rediscover the World of Quests

"If you lack the resolve to fight for your dreams, then you have no right to claim them."
– Unnamed Soldier's Journal

I would like to extend an invitation to all active soldiers to participate in a Manifestation Quest that will span the duration of the coming PMO War. The objectives of this quest are twofold:

1) Make our lives better by creating meaningful change
2) Focus our minds on what we're gaining, not the few bad habits we're giving up

The quest itself is fairly simple. First, you will identify one, meaningful change you'd like to make in your life. Then you will create a "manifestation plan" to achieve it (More concrete details below). Finally, for the majority of the War you will execute that plan. You may or may not fully achieve your goal by the end of the War, but the important thing is that you will make progress towards achieving it.

Possible goals could be to meet a significant other, build a career doing a specific kind of work, pass a class, earn a certain amount of money, or even learn a language or other skill. The goals that we each select will be individual and can be as gargantuan or modest as we want. Size doesn't matter. However, the unifying trait will be that the goals are meaningful to us and that we will work on concrete tasks to achieve them.

So if you're ready to accept, please create a post on the Conquered Self Forum as your personal thread with the title "Manifestation Quest: [YOUR USERNAME]" and make replies to the thread for each step below, status updates, etc (post a link to your forum post here as well, so others can follow along and encourage you!):

1) Define in detail what you want to manifest (Target Date: August 30th)
2) Define in detail what your manifestation goal itself wants or requires of you (Target Date: September 6th)
3) Create a manifestation plan of "subquests" which will transform you into the person described in Step 2 (Target Date: End of War)

The above explanation is fairly high-level, so please read my full article on Manifestion on the CS forum post entitled Manifestation: Rediscovering the World of Quests.

NOTE: I use the word "manifestation" here, but it's really just a fancy way of saying "creating one's own life intentionally." For those who don't like the word "manifestation", feel free to substitute whatever phrase you like, such as "conscious creation" or "goal attraction".

NOTE: One important point I want to emphasize is this: Many of us here (my past self included) have often fallen into the trap of being all talk and no action. When creating your quest thread on the forum, keep in mind that no matter what you write, execution and effort is what really matters. Whether or not you achieve your dreams rests entirely on your own shoulders. No one else can achieve them for you. I recommend doing the exercises as described in the Manifestation article above, writing the minimum you need to get yourself going, then execute, execute, execute. Get lost in your task and let your reply posts be a chance to periodically come up for air.

So, with that, I'll wish you all luck in the coming War! May you each take leaps and bounds towards claiming the dreams you could have.

Just read your entire post on the forum, very meaningful and impacting writting that you have right there.
I mostly think we tend to PMO because we lack the moral foundations everyone must have. This journey is so much more than quitting PMO : i's about creating a new path in life for ourselves, to take action and truly becoming what we want to be. I'm glad to meet someone as motivated as you that will follow me on the path for changes. It might take longer than expected but I'm glad to have you and others by our side along the way. I truly want to change and knowing I'm far from being alone sure is giving me a boost of energy to accomplish the required steps!

@MustacheMan Thank you for your kind words. I am also happy to be a part of a community of people who, like you, understand that making big changes in our lives and our expectations of life's difficulties is the real challenge. This is will be my third War and 14 years or so since I started along the path to recovery. Until recently, I was always going alone with my longest clean streak being 17 days (even now I realize it was a miracle I made it that long alone). Now my longest streak was last war at 56 days. This community can really work, but accountability and honesty are critical. Good luck!

I've been busy lately, but I will make my post before the war (officially) begins.

I am very much commited to this. This came right at time in my life. Focussing on what to do instead of what NOT to do.

@mrk142 I think your idea to reconnect with friends whom you may have neglected while you had a significant other is a very worthy goal. If you'd like, create a forum page like @PridefulBlossom and the others did above so that we can follow along, offer advice, and you can hold yourself accountable. Good luck!

I also just want to put this out there that my "Target Dates" listed above are targets and there should be no pressure to do any of this on a timeline. People should feel welcome to pick up this quest at any time.
