But still, one has to wonder how seriously they fought, only lasting a few days…?? May the rest of us persevere for the rest of the war 💪

Some people aren't ready to change, they just like the idea of change and the postive feeling they get from that. No hate, I've been that person a million times myself. Everyone gets to that place of being ready to make a change at different points of their life. Those of us that are fully ready to make a change will be here until the end.

I think this is a relevant paragraph from the AA Big Book that I personally find quite haunting: "Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest."

It is a long war. May God continue to give us the grace to be honest with ourselves!

Kindly stop making boastful declarations before you have actually achieved the success yourself.
Just because you're still in this war doesn't mean you're any better than them.
Maybe their streak started 20 days before this war began, and even though they failed in a few days - they probably lasted for many days. Maybe recently they had a very stressful event like a financial loss or failure in an interview or an exam or the injury or death of a loved one.
What do you know? Most of the people who succumb to addictions aren't led through temptations but through stress.

That paragraph from the AA book is grossly incorrect according to me. Nobody is born bad. Circumstances can shape their childhood and may continue into adulthood. And some face much harder battles than most. That para is simply trying to denigrate people into joining the program or sticking to it.
Same as FarFromWeak YouTube channel calling masturbators as "PATHETIC" and similar pejoratives.

Such methods aren't very useful, in my opinion. Just state the facts and let people choose and take their own time. Some may win in the first shot, some may take a thousand.

@Escape_From_Porn you seem to have either misread or misunderstood my post completely.

This is my 3rd. Battle. The first I felt confident and made it pretty far then went kia. The second I started super strong but went kia quick. Now i am trying to stay as humble as I can. I dont know of this war will be “the war” i am just taking it one day at a time. Sometimes one hour at a time. What I do know is that I will be here in the next war and the war after and the war after. That i can commit to. Take care guys and thanks for your posts and sharing your thoughts with everyone.

Do not go by motivation. That is subject to change. Do not expect some sort of cathartic moment like in the films, after which you suddenly discard porn and become a completely changed man.

In real life, things rarely change in a single moment. So your current approach is healthy and welcome.
People shouldn't make a big deal out of it like "This war I'm totally kicking ass etc." Just be humble and do what's required of the war.
Too many people here make many boastful declarations and then are miserable when they eventually fail.
